An Iberian Adventure

In four days, I will be studying in Spain until 1 June. I will be a student in the 2008 Study Abroad in Spain program of FIU’s Honors College, which is the fourth-year Honors seminar on “the continuity of Spanish culture.” I will visit Madrid, Segovia, Avila, Toledo, Barcelona, and Santiago de Compostela.

During this time, I will be engaged in the sociological study of Spain. I will analyze its environment, society, and structures by getting obtaining data from classes, tours, and the experiences of my spare time.

This is one of the best ways to open one’s mind, and discover insights or facts about oneself that have never entered into the content of one’s consciousness. I try to do this often, but there is only so much I can notice about myself (and my culture) while I live in my home environment. I hope this will be an even more enriching experience than the last time I went to Spain in 2004. Much has changed about me since then, especially the way I think about the world, so it should be a very exciting experience.  I will try to post from there if I can. Love!
